When it comes to historic gem mining in America, one of the most famous localities is in the Pala region of North San Diego County, California. Today, only one operating gem mine remains in this area reflecting the glory of days gone by. This mine is the OceanView Mine and that mine is run by none other than our friend Jeff Swanger. Jeff has been involved in the gem mining business for over 35 years bringing fine gem and mineral specimens to the market. In addition to running his crew of miners, Jeff also operates a Pay-To-Dig operation here, an on-site cabin for weekend stays and more recently also acquired the adjoining Pala Chief Mine.
